Raising Taxes
As Governor, Jeanne Shaheen increased taxes and proposed new taxes that New Hampshire voters are still living with today -- and repeatedly flip-flopped on the traditional New Hampshire anti-tax pledge.
Governor Shaheen enacted the state's first statewide property tax and proposed a significant 4.5 percent capital gains tax AND a new 2.5 percent sales tax.1, 2
But wait -- wasn't it candidate Shaheen that said: "I have never supported, nor do I intend to support broad-base taxes"?3
FOUR TIMES!?!?!?: The Union Leader reported that Shaheen repeated her anti-tax promise four times over the course of the campaign.4
When it came to taxes, as Governor, Jeanne Shaheen could only find ways to raise them and break her promise to New Hampshire voters.
Is this the kind of flip-flopping, tax-raising record New Hampshire wants back in power?
